I think in exact that place this patch here should also add a new paragraph explaining that the output probing magic of bridges only happens if you use it, pointing at this connector helper here. Some of the kerneldoc in here could then in turn point at the underlying bridge functions they're building on top of. With that I think all the (new) pieces are well documented, and more importantly, well-connected in the docs.
