This driver allows SOF to be used on Virtual Machines (VMs) where the host is also a Linux system, using the SOF driver natively. This driver communicates with the host using the VirtIO standard over Virtual Queues. This version uses 3 Virtual Queues: for control, for data and for position updates. The control Virtual Queue uses exactly the same IPC protocol as what is used by the SOF driver natively to communicate with the DSP. In the future a zero-copy capability should be added thus eliminating 2 out of 3 Virtual Queues and only preserving the control queue.
