Martin also observed the same problem on a mx53 and uses the following
patch to avoid it:

That might work as a temporary workaround, but is not a proper fix.
Something else seems to be going on. We should never end up in a situation
where card->instantiated is 1, but card->snd_card is NULL. Maybe the drvdata
is corrupted and is not pointing to a snd_soc_card. Which is the machine
driver for your platform?
