I don't mind if you want to request it is backported explicitly but it isn't a regression fix (as it never worked on such controllers) and is non trivial. As a result I want a backport to be a deliberate decision. Now titled "iio: adc: ad7949: enable use with non 14/16-bit controllers" This and previous applied to the togreg branch of iio.git and pushed out as testing for 0-day to poke at it.
