You have sent him a patch that has triggered this response. He used to manually respond to these common problems, but in order to save his sanity (he kept writing the same thing over and over, yet to different people), I was created. Hopefully you will not take offence and will fix the problem in your patch and resubmit it so that it can be accepted into the Linux kernel tree. You are receiving this message because of the following common error(s) as indicated below: - This looks like a new version of a previously submitted patch, but you did not list below the --- line any changes from the previous version. Please read the section entitled "The canonical patch format" in the kernel file, Documentation/SubmittingPatches for what needs to be done here to properly describe this. If you wish to discuss this problem further, or you have questions about how to resolve this issue, please feel free to respond to this email and Greg will reply once he has dug out from the pending patches received from other developers. thanks, greg k-h's patch email bot

Hi Heikki Thanks for the review. Added the Fixes tag which Greg asked for. Thanks for information. I went through the documents. Yes, Cc: stable@kernel.org, unless you have some good reason not to. I'm guessing you don't. This stuff is also explained here: https://docs.kernel.org/process/submitting-patches.html#select-the-recipients-for-your-patch > >> Signed-off-by: Sing-Han Chen <singhanc@nvidia.com> > >> Signed-off-by: Wayne Chang <waynec@nvidia.com> > >> --- > > > > What has changed since v3 (and v2) - there is no patch changelog here? > > > > In case this is new to you, you list those changes under that '---' > > line so they don't become part of the permanent changelog: > > > > https://docs.kernel.org/process/submitting-patches.html#the-canonical-patch-format > > > The changes are resent for updating the commit messages. > Added the Fixes tag which Greg asked for. > Thanks for information. Since you are going to do one more version of this, could you also start the sentences with upper-case letters in the commit message? Normally I'm not very picky about the grammar stuff (I make plenty of mistakes myself), but this time it's driving me crazy for some reason. thanks,
